Sydney Harbour Bridge 80: Voice of Russia: "Construction began in 1923 and city officials immediately decided that they would build the longest bridge in the world. As a result the longest span is 503 meters long. However, several months before the opening of the bridge it was revealed that the Bayonne Bridge built in New York had a main span that was 7 feet longer."
