IMAGER 5010: "The First Phase of the Bayonne Bridge Project Complete"

Wednesday, March 22, 2017

Editorial: One inspector general is enough at the PA

NJ.com: "In New Jersey, and, for that matter, New York, all roads keep leading back to the Port Authority. Those pathways should take the public to a new Bayonne Bridge, a new Goethals Bridge or inside the Oculus at the World Trade Center. But instead of seeing these completed or nearly completed projects, it is always politics. And in the end, this will neither help the Port Authority become more efficient nor bolster the political stature of either the governor of New Jersey or New York."

Panama Canal aims to double big-ship transits with tech aid

JOC.com: "More large ships are expected to come to the East Coast through the Panama Canal once the Bayonne Bridge is lifted at the Port of New York and New Jersey by the end of this year. At present, ships larger than 10,000 TEUs can only stop at one of the port’s four main terminals because to get to the other three terminals, ships must pass under the Bayonne Bridge."

Need for NY-NJ port extended gates comes into focus

JOC.com: "The question has emerged as new carrier alliances are set to take effect April 1, and — most significantly — the Bayonne Bridge’s clearance is raised later this year. Those developments are expected to help attract larger ships to New York-New Jersey. The bridge’s 151-foot elevation prevents ships larger than 10,000 twenty-foot-equivalent units (TEUs) from getting to three of the four main terminals. Depending on their design, even some 5,000-TEU ships can’t fit under the bridge."
