Donohoe at 5:01 a.m. That afternoon a record turnout of approximately 20,000 spectators crowded the Bayonne Plaza at Seventh Street and Hudson (now Kennedy) Boulevard for the festivities. Among the dignitaries were N.J. Gov. Morgan F. Larson and former N.Y. Gov. Alfred E. Smith.
