NY-NJ port authority signs off on GCT Bayonne ship-to-rail facility

JOC.com: "GCT Bayonne is the only major terminal in the port that can handle ships too large for the Bayonne Bridge’s 151-foot vertical clearance. The port authority is spending $1.3 billion to raise the bridge, but the schedule for increasing the span’s clearance to 215 feet has been delayed till the end of 2017.

Cargo coming on and off ships at GCT Bayonne today is transported to or from its destination by truck, or is trucked to another ExpressRail facility in the port. The new Greenville Yards facility will allow containers to be transloaded from ship to rail. The facility will have an initial capacity of at least 125,000 container lifts a year."
