Transportation advocates pick up torch for Verrazano Bridge pathway

SILive.com: "Since 2011, Harbor Ring has been campaigning for its 50-mile route for cyclists and pedestrians around New York Harbor that would run through Staten Island, Brooklyn, Manhattan and New Jersey, through Hoboken, Jersey City and Bayonne.

Gertner says the ring would provide a scenic route for recreating runners and cyclists and could also give Staten Islanders the first free route directly into Brooklyn.

The committee mapped its pathway necklace along mostly preexisting infrastructure. When the Port Authority completes its "Raise the Roadway" project on the Bayonne Bridge, which will include a pedestrian path, the Verrazano will be the last 2.5 miles needed to link the entire route."
